“Upside Down Cake”
I met a Cuckooranian lady,
just the other day,
she told me of her homeland customs,
the landscape, work, as well as play
She said the waves along their coastline,
roll out instead of in,
and when someone tries to surf,
there’s just no way to win
She said the sun goes down at daybreak,
which makes the daytime dark,
but there’s lots of lights outside,
on the streets and in the parks
The way the trees grow upside down,
makes the fruit easy to pick,
but getting water to the roots,
at times can be a trick
Their football games are different too,
they run backwards with the ball,
and it pays to be both short and slim,
not overweight and tall.
She said the Cuckooranians,
don’t ever fall in love,
since the country is a bit backward,
they hold hands and rise above
She said she couldn’t wait to get back home,
down under is the place,
when they frown in Cuckoorania,
there’s a smile upon their face
Maybe they’re somewhat backward,
maybe some things are upside down,
but I could use a change of pace,
so I’m Cuckoorania bound . . .
