“Over Now, Half Over”
It’s tea time for the toads,
and nap time for the butterflies,
the day is over now, half over,
while clouds are drifting in the sky
The lizards are on lazy street,
recharging in the sun,
the owls are resting up,
until the day is finally done
The gophers and the gray squirrels,
are playing tag out on the grass,
the day is over now, half over,
and in a while will come to pass
The wind chimes are playing songs,
ever gentle on the breeze,
while the birds are telling stories,
beak to beak up in the trees
It’s teatime for the toads,
the day is over now, half over,
rest now small weary children,
as if in a field of clover . . .
