“Nature’s Song”

The praying mantis are now praying,

along with the chipmunks, bear and deer,

 with mankind’s steady encroachment,

they all now live in fear

Even the frogs and salamanders,

 are praying to remain,

since their streams and swamps are disappearing,

 little now remains the same

The butterflies are fluttering faster,

 then they’ve ever fluttered before,

since there’s now ten million condos,

where it was once the forest floor

The prairie dogs and porcupines,

 are now praying for relief,

while the owls with all their wisdom,

are hooting “Holy Cow,” “Good Grief”

The ants and uncles are moving onward,

 they’re abandoning their homes,

yea even the insects are now frightened,

 where the antelope once roamed

The geese and ducks are flying further,

 then they’ve ever flown before,

 while mankind lives precariously,

 with the out of doors

It all started with praying mantis,

now most of nature’s on their knees,

open your eyes and look around,

just ask the birds and bees

The best that we can hope for,

 is somehow we’ll get along,

 do a little conservation,

 plant a tree, sing nature’s song . . .
