“We’re Doing A-Okay”

The ducks are dunking donuts,

 the geese are flying high,

the frogs are on their lily pads,

 waiting for a fly

The chipmunks have potato chips,

 with guacamole dip,

 the gophers have gone golfing,

church mice have bread and wine to sip.

The bats have upside down cake,

while they’re hanging from the eaves,

 the koala bears have cola,

 and eucalyptus leaves

The black bears have brown bread and beans,

 some camper left behind,

 the raccoons have watermelon,

they even eat the seeds and rind.

The deer are eating acorns,

 with apples on the side,

the wild pigs are in hog heaven,

since the big bad wolf has died

The owls just don’t give a hoot,

 until they see the moon,

 the daytime makes them drowsy,

sundown can not come too soon

As for all the rest of us,

 we’re doing a-okay,

 greetings from the great outdoors,

 on a sun-filled summer day

Oh by the way, the praying mantis,

 are still practicing their prayers,

so be sure to show some love,

for the birds, the bees, and bears . . .
