“The Poem Painter”
While some have suggested,
I should write short stories,
of fiction, or fact,
or history’s past glories
My pen has a tempo,
a rhythm and rhyme,
I’m a poet and artist,
in this day and time
Some talk of a niche,
I’ve created my own.
with help from above,
as a gift or a loan
Some people write headlines,
and others tall tales,
I’ve penned every picture,
from spiritual to whales
Mixed in with my works,
is dry comedy,
to lighten the heart,
and set the soul free
Rules are made to be broken,
poets are their own class,
a test some believe right,
they may well not pass
A whole different breed,
I do stand apart,
I create rhyming stories
and combine them with art.
How many I’ve touched,
I know not to this day,
through guidance and insight,
I’ve gone my own way
From both heart and soul,
I’ve given my best,
that my life’s work shall fly,
before my time of rest . . .
