“Gourmet Bait”

Frog legs and crayfish pie,

 shrimp and oyster stew,

 clams still in the shell,

lobster and crab from waters blue

Catfish, codfish, shark, sardines,

 halibut and bass,

it’s all a gift from Mother Nature,

but on sushi I’ll have to pass

Uncooked fish is not a delicacy,

 unless to another fish,

 I’d rather dine on chicken,

break the bone and make a wish

Eating fish that just stopped wiggling,

 with or without fins,

is not the kind of food for me,

 when dinner time begins

Tuna, salmon, trout, and perch,

 mackerel, flounder or swordfish,

 I’d rather have almost anything,

then fresh bait upon my dish

Of course there are those that love the stuff,

maybe to them it spells romance,

and they say there’s still a market,

 for chocolate covered ants . . .
