“Abundance”

There’s dogs and cats,

 chickens and ducks,

 corn, pumpkins, peppers,

 and pickup trucks

Horses and cows,

 pigs, goats and crows,

 potatoes, tomatoes,

 and hay to mow

Pigeons and quail,

 skunks, porcupines,

 apples and pears,

 and fruit of the vine

There’s sheep in the hills,

 salamanders in the stream,

 falling stars and fireflies,

 to fill your midnight dreams

There’s a hayloft in the barn,

 pines and weeping willow trees,

 cattails in the creek,

 dragonflies and bumble bees

Crickets and frogs,

 performing summer serenades,

 birds singing in the trees,

 and hammocks in the shade

There’s one more thing

 that holds it all together,

 through the changing seasons,

 and all types of weather

Out on the farm

 everything fits hand-in-glove,

 and there’s always an abundance,

 of a thing called love . . .
