“Happy Campers”

The lizards are happy campers,

 out basking in the sun,

 the crickets are getting ready,

for when the day is up and done

The praying mantis are saying prayers,

 composed of poetry and song,

 the multipedes are multiplying,

 while the chipmunks scurry along

The ants are rearranging,

 the ladybugs are on migration,

 mother nature is singing serenades,

 its time for a vacation

The catfish, the frogs and guppies,

are jumpin’ over the lilly pads,

 the lake is gettin’ warmer,

 for the tadpoles and crawdads

The butterflies are fluttering, flower to flower,

 then off upon the breeze,

while the birds are flocking together,

singing their stories in the bushes and the trees

God in His heaven is happy,

painting sunsets, when comes the twilight time,

a poet is trying his best,

to compose summertime to rhyme . . .
