“Greetings”
The birds and the bees and the beetles,
all send you their regards,
your whereabouts was wondered,
while the raccoons were playing cards
The mosquitoes miss your company,
their blood bank is now low,
since you left the lighting bugs,
have forgotten how to glow
The butterflies aren’t fluttering,
quite the way they used to do,
everybody misses your great touch,
down at the petting zoo
When the praying mantis say their prayers,
they pray for your return,
the dragon flies are missing you,
while they hover over ferns
The crickets miss the way,
you used to love to hear their songs,
the birds now sing sad serenades,
knowing that you’re gone
The birds and bees are missing you,
almost as much as me,
greetings from the great outdoors,
and all things both wild and free…
