“The Party Is On”

Fried eggs and ham,

 peanut butter and toast,

 the party is on,

and I’m going to play host

Butter for butterflies,

 pudding for pelicans,

 fresh water and salted,

for the friends that have fins

Cupcakes for the hamsters,

 as well as the mice,

 for the turtles there’ll be,

 coconut and some spice

Pasta for the parakeets,

 as well as the parrots,

 not to forget,

 the rabbits like carrots

Milk and fresh cheese,

 for the kittens and cats,

 upside down cake,

 for the visiting bats.

Salads for salamanders,

 turnip greens for the toads,

 that lives down below,

 my humble abode

Sugar cubes for the mules,

 the lamas and horses,

 at this rate I’ll surely,

 need more than ten courses

Pretzels for the pigeons,

 chips for the chipmunks,

 peanuts and popcorn,

 for the unscented skunks

Black beans for the beavers,

 that may come along,

 when the birds all arrive,

 they’ll sing us a song

Oatmeal for the owls,

 seaweed for the frogs,

 bones and baloney,

 for the puppies and dogs

I hope that they have,

all I need at the store,

when the sun starts to set,

they’ll all be at the door

Oh, I almost forgot,

 Do you like pancakes?

 You’re invited as well,

 for heaven sakes . . .
